Soak my callous hands in the steel basin and repeat your name five times I cry so much more than i used to and time is so much wider than the thrones of kings and its deeper than a dictators thumb knit a balaclava with worms silk and dye my hair blood red underneath ill start wearing all black and talking to old women in my hometown who arent really there anymore and ill smoke my big weight in bad weed just that itll give me a headache and that makes the water feel less cold and i wont feel the ice as much and the time will feel more thin than me cause time is so much wider than the thrones of kings and its deeper than a dictators thumb

about

This album is the third full-length solo record from Search for the Infinite Light (Pete Dennis). The idea for this record began to form on Halloween of 2020. Due to the pandemic, SFTIL has been forced to reckon with the horror of technology as it relates to music in a way they hadn't before. This leads to a project that is more composed in nature, and draws on a wider range of influences than their previous records. These influences range from Isreal 'Cachao' López Valdés to Einstürzende Neubauten, from Nico's "The Marble Index" to Maalem Said Damir. The subject material artistically approached on this album is also more varied than previous work. While still essentially religious at its core, this album also focuses on relationships, depression, and waking up at 4 am to go to a job you hate. This album includes more textures, less acoustic instruments are used on this project than any previous Search for the Infinite Light release, upright bass, bulbul tarang, and ney feature alongside programmed drums, electric bass, computer programmed sound design, and samples of trash.

I am very excited to share this work with you and also more insecure about it than any material I have released. I so badly wish I could do a release show and perform this music for you. I couldn't have made this record without the help of Jared Radichel. A collaborator and friend who was indispensable to the formation of this album.
